Are you aware of what you are eating?. Do you have a weak eye or have eye problem ?. Apart from carrot, here are few food that helps you to protect your sight threatening diseases .
Fishes such as Salmon,tuna, sardines and mackerel contains Omega-3 fatty acids. It helps in protecting dry eye, macular degeneration and cataracts. If you do not eat sea food, you can get a good supply of Omega-3 by taking supplements that contain Fish oil or flaxseed oil.
Green leafs and dark leaves like spinach, kale etc, are rich in two antioxidants stored in the macula—lutein and zeaxanthin. The macula is a part of the retina that acts as a natural sunblock, shielding the eye from damaging light. Broccoli, peas and avocados are also good sources of this powerful antioxidant duo, which are also good for the eye.
Eggs contain zeaxanthin; an antioxidant found in egg yolk and is believed to help protect eyes against damage due to ultraviolet radiation from the sun. Zeaxanthin and lutein also reduce the risk of developing cataracts.
They’re filled with vitamin E, which slows macular degeneration, research shows. One handful (an ounce) provides about half of your daily dose of E.
Citrus and berries
These fruits are full of vitamin C. They reduce the risk of developing macular degeneration and cataracts.
Lean Red meat:
Lean red meat in your diet can boost your eye health. It contains zinc, which helps your body absorb vitamin A and may play a role in reducing risk of advanced age-related macular degeneration.
